Peace Poles Erected At Two Secondary Schools in Tobago

The Rotary Club of Southwest Tobago has joined the world in observing International Day of Peace.

International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly and is celebrated on September 21st.

As part of this observance, the Rotary Club erected peace poles at Signal Hill Secondary and . Scarborough Secondary Schools in Tobago.

President Monique Timothy explained this is the first for the island. Ms. Timothy said it is hoped that the presence of the pole at the schools will serve as a reminder to staff and students of the need to maintain peaceful relationships.

Student of Signal Hill Secondary and Secretary of Rotaract Club of Southwest Tobago, Melody Ottley, noted the pole will benefit the students.
