Phones, Drugs And Weapons Seized At Maximum Security Prison

The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service says a quantity of prohibited items has been seized during a search exercise at the Maximum Security Prison.

According to the Prison Service, officers attached to the Security Department carried out an intelligence-led operation in the prison’s U Division at around 10:45 a.m. on Friday.

The search resulted in the seizure of four cellular phones, three wall plugs, four USB cables, two improvised weapons, three cigarette lighters, a headset, 80 grams of a green plant-like substance resembling marijuana, 24 packs of cigarettes and four razor blades.

The Prison Service says investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the discovery, and charges are expected to be laid.

Officials are also urging the public to provide credible information that could assist in identifying those responsible.
