PM Hands Over First Batch Of Restored Police Vehicles

Ten newly repaired police vehicles are now back on the nation’s roads, following an official handover by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

She joined Deputy Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin and officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service as the first batch of restored units was delivered.

In a media release, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar said that when the government assumed office in April 2025, almost 500 police vehicles were discovered to be out of service, many sidelined for months or even years due to minor faults such as tyres, brakes, or other basic repairs.

The release added that VMCOTT completed the restoration in one week, ensuring that the vehicles returned immediately to frontline patrols as the TTPS ramps up its crime-fighting operations.

The Prime Minister said the move reflects her administration’s commitment to equipping the Police Service with practical, usable resources ahead of the busy Christmas period. Another 40 vehicles are expected before Christmas, with more than 100 set for repair early in the New Year.
