Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, has extended congratulations to newly sworn-in Chief Justice Ronnie Boodoosingh on his appointment.
In a statement on Wednesday, she praised the new Chief Justice for his decades of service and leadership within the legal system.
“Chief Justice Boodoosingh brings to this esteemed office an illustrious legal career spanning more than three decades, defined by excellence, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the rule of law. Having served with distinction as a Justice of Appeal for the past five years, he has earned the respect of the legal fraternity and the wider national community for his sound judgment, fairness, and dedication to justice.”
Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar also underscored her administration’s commitment to continued collaboration with the Judiciary.
“As Prime Minister, I reaffirm my government’s commitment to working in partnership with the Judiciary in the shared pursuit of upholding justice, strengthening integrity, and deepening public trust in our democratic institutions.”
Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar once again paid tribute to former Chief Justice Ivor Archie “on a truly remarkable career” and wished him “every success and fulfilment in his future endeavours.”
