Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has announced that construction of mobile police posts at Tarouba and the Grand Bazaar interchange is now underway, as part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security across the country.
“As your UNC Government continues to take decisive steps to secure our communities and bring greater safety to law-abiding citizens, we thank all those who continue to support and assist in the fight against crime,” the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister noted that while current trends show crime continuing to decline, the Government remains committed to maintaining pressure on criminal elements and strengthening law enforcement’s presence in communities.
“We must keep the pressure on criminal elements and strengthen the presence of law enforcement in our communities,” she said.
According to the Prime Minister, the new mobile police posts at Tarouba and Grand Bazaar are expected to contribute to an increased level of safety across Trinidad and Tobago.
The two locations form part of a broader rollout of 30 joint army-police posts the Government previously announced would be established in communities nationwide over a four-month period.
Closing her statement, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the country’s security forces for their continued efforts.
“Thank you once again to the brave men and women of our law enforcement agencies who continue to work tirelessly to protect our citizens and communities.”
