PM Praises Opposition Support For Fireworks Regulation Bill

The Motion currently before the House to regulate fireworks and their use is one of the few bills that all members of the Cabinet have contributed to in terms of its formation.

Speaking during the debate on the Summary Offences Amendment Bill, 2025, the Prime Minister also congratulated the Opposition for giving their support to the Bill, which will add increased fines and tougher regulations for persons who choose to use fireworks.

“This Bill requires a simple majority, but I am very heartened today, Chief Whip and Leader of the Opposition. Maybe it is the season of goodwill to all men, and I want to thank you for giving your support and the amendments you are suggesting, we will deal with them at the Committee Stage and take them one by one. So, I thank the Opposition. I don’t think this would have happened for some time, but today, in the season of goodwill, I want to thank you all very much for your suggestions.”
