PM Rejects “False Premise” Behind WASA CEO’s Departure

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC is denying claims that the last Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) was sent on administrative leave.

It was reported recently that Jeevan Joseph was sent on leave just five months into his tenure as WASA’s Acting CEO.

During Prime Minister’s Questions in the Parliament on Tuesday, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar dismissed the claims.

“The last Acting CEO of WASA was never sent on administrative leave, so the premise of this question is a false premise. Therefore, the question does not arise. That person tendered his resignation, citing personal reasons, so it is a false premise that the question is based on.”
