Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley will participate and deliver a statement at the first African-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Summit scheduled to take place virtually tomorrow, Tuesday September 7th, 2021.
President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, and the Hon. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua & Barbuda and CARICOM Chairman, are among those who are also scheduled to deliver remarks.
The Summit aims to formalise the relationship between the African Union and CARICOM through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which is currently under negotiation by the two bodies.
Tomorrow’s talks will explore opportunities to strengthen the linkages between the people of Africa and the Caribbean regions by addressing economic and communication challenges.
The Summit further aims to harness the opportunities that will be accrued through integration in trade and investments, debt and development financing, blue economy, gender issues, culture and sports as well as emerging issues on environment and climate change, terrorism and violent extremism among others.
