Founding member and stalwart of the People’s National Movement, Ferdinand “Ferdie” Ferreira has died.
TTT News understands that Mr. Ferreira passed away at 6:20am on Thursday, following complications from a stroke. He had been hospitalised for the past three weeks.
Mr. Ferreira, 93, was a close advisor to Trinidad and Tobago’s first Prime Minister, Dr. Eric Williams. Involved in politics and national affairs for more than four decades, he became a source of information and a political commentator.
A long-standing member of the PNM, Mr. Ferreira was not afraid to criticise decisions taken at the helm of the party. It was noted that Mr. Ferreira briefly parted ways with the PNM, but was later welcomed back into the party where he served diligently as an elder.
