Police Capture Suspect In Belmont Shooting

Police captured one of two suspects involved in a shootout in broad daylight near a Secondary School in Belmont.

During a manhunt for the suspects on Friday afternoon, policemen and journalists were sent fleeing from bullets.

According to police reports, two gunmen in a Nissan Tiida ambushed and shot two men at Serraneau Road, Belmont at around 11am. The assailants attempted to escape, but the car crashed. The two men got out and jumped into a manhole leading to an underground drain. The drain is near the St. Francois Girls College.

Police confirmed that no one entered the school compound. Police caught one of the suspects a few hours later. There was an exchange of gunfire during the capture.
