Police Commissioner Meets With Chamber President To Strengthen Crime-Fighting Partnerships

Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro today hosted Mrs. Sonji Pierre-Chase, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, at the Police Administration Building, Port of Spain, for a high-level meeting focused on advancing national crime reduction strategies through strengthened public-private collaboration.

Also in attendance were Assistant Commissioner of Police Michael Pierre, Senior Superintendent Winston Maharaj, and Senior Superintendent Clint Arthur. The meeting underscored the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s (TTPS’) commitment to strategic partnerships, technological innovation, and community engagement in the ongoing fight against crime.

Discussions centred on:

– Recognising recent gains in crime reduction and the notable increase in detection rates for homicides and other serious offences

– Exploring partnership and networking initiatives between law enforcement and the business community

– Leveraging technology, artificial intelligence, and intelligence-led policing to enhance operational effectiveness

– Strengthening community partnerships to foster trust and proactive crime prevention.

Commissioner Guevarro emphasised the importance of capitalising on recent successes, stating: “We are not merely reacting to crime, we are reshaping the landscape of public safety. Through strategic alliances and the intelligent application of technology, we are building a more resilient, responsive, and transparent policing framework.”

Mrs. Pierre-Chase echoed the Chamber’s support for collaborative efforts, noting the critical role of the private sector in national security and community development.
