Police Ready To Secure Carnival 2026, Rolls Out QR Code Ahead Of Celebrations

Carnival 2026 Gold Commander DCP Suzette Martin says the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is ready to ensure that the population and visitors have a safe and secure Carnival season.

At a Joint Media Briefing on Thursday, she said the TTPS and its partner agencies, which include the Fire Service and the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Band Leaders’ Association, understand the task ahead and and are fully prepared to execute Operation Secure the Vibes.

“We anticipate large crowds, significant visitor arrivals, and vibrant celebrations across Port of Spain and other key districts. With that comes responsibility. Our command structure is fully activated.”

The Carnival 2026 Gold Commander outlined the measures that the Inter-Agency Team is deploying to ensure a safe season.

“Joint Task Force coordination is integrated, high visibility patrols are deployed, parade routes have been inspected and secured, traffic management plans are finalised, intelligence monitoring continues in real time.”

Meanwhile, TTPS Public Affairs Officer Owie Russell highlighted a new digital tool which the TTPS will be using to provide safety tips, medical information, band routes, lost and found, taxi stand locations, and other information.

The information will be provided via a QR code which can be scanned with any digital phone or device.

“These will be placed at various parts of the stations as well as the hotels, guesthouses. We would want to distribute some to Airbnbs as well to ensure that their visitors and even the officers that are being deployed for duty at their various points could scan these on their cellular devices, which will have certain information readily available to them.”
