Police officers successfully recovered two stolen vehicles in separate operations conducted yesterday.
Between 1pm and 5:30pm, officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad carried out an intelligence-led exercise. Acting on information obtained during a previous operation regarding a silver Hyundai Elantra, the team proceeded to an address on Dillion Street, Diego Martin. Upon examining the vehicle, officers discovered that its chassis had been tampered with. The vehicle was seized on suspicion of being stolen and lodged at the Central Police Station, pending further investigations.
Later that day, at approximately 2:50pm, while on mobile patrol, officers received a transmission from the Command Centre regarding a light blue Toyota Aqua stolen from the North-Central Division. Acting swiftly, officers made checks along Schuller Street, Laventille, where they observed a vehicle matching the description parked in an empty lot. Upon further examination, it was confirmed that the car was bearing false plates and was indeed the stolen vehicle. It was towed to the Besson Street Police Station and subsequently handed over to WPC Horrell of the St. Joseph Criminal Investigations Department.
Investigations are ongoing into both matters.
