President Christine Kangaloo has reflected on the enduring message of Divali: the triumph of light over darkness.

On Tuesday, the President and First Gentleman, Kerwyn Garcia, joined staff of the Office of the President for an observance of the Festival of Lights.

President Kangaloo expressed gratitude to staff for their contribution to ensuring that the Office of the President was once again able to commemorate Divali.

“Today marks the third occasion that we are celebrating the festival of Divali on the grounds of the Office of the President. So I want to thank all of you for being here. I want to thank Commander and his staff for what they have done on our grounds.”

She highlighted the deeper meaning of Divali, reflecting on the festival’s universal message of light over darkness.

“I want to say to everyone Divali, the festival of Divali, we celebrate the victory of light over darkness. That is a theme that we can all be attracted to: for the victory of light over darkness, for the ability to overcome whatever is facing us, to overcome it with faith and with optimism.”

The President encouraged all present to carry the spirit of Divali beyond the celebration and into their daily lives.

“I ask that we focus on the message of Divali and that we all, each of us, try to have that light within us, and with that light within us, we can conquer so much.”

Members of the media were also invited to embrace the message of light triumphing over darkness.
