President Kangaloo Urges Resilience And Creativity In Independence Day Message

President Christine Kangaloo has urged citizens to embrace the resilience and creativity that define Trinidad and Tobago as the country celebrates its 63rd anniversary of independence.

Speaking during her Independence Day address, President Christine Kangaloo acknowledged that the ongoing state of emergency has changed the way the nation marks the occasion, but said it is also a reminder of our ability to adapt.

“These modifications have also pressed us into finding new and innovative ways to mark the occasion. And when it comes to creativity and resourcefulness, there is no nation on earth quite like Trinidad and Tobago.”

She reflected on the ingenuity that gave birth to the steelpan, Carnival, and cultural traditions forged out of hardship, noting that this spirit continues to shape our identity.
“The immutable quality that makes us one of the greatest nations on earth is our ability to rise above anything and everything that challenges us, and to thrive in all circumstances.”

Quoting calypsonian David Rudder, the President reminded citizens that “out of pain, this culture was born.”

She ended her message with a call for unity, optimism, and confidence in the nation’s future.
