Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar Dismisses Venezuela’s ‘Persona Non Grata’ Declaration

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC said being declared ‘persona non grata’ by Venezuelan authorities has no effect on her life, and is a useless declaration.

Commenting on the recent declaration made by Venezuelan authorities on Tuesday, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar said that daily Venezuelans continue to flee Venezuela by the millions, and she is confused as to why the authorities there believe she wants to visit the country.

She added that such efforts by Venezuela are bullying tactics, and questioned why Venezuela is not calling out the United States and President Trump, saying: “Why aren’t they making declarations of persona non grata against him? The answer is obvious. They should call President Trump’s name. He is the commander of those warships.”

In conclusion, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar said her government will continue to support drug interdiction exercises against narco-traffickers in international waters.
