Prime Minister Marks Recent Wins As Parliament Wraps Up The Year

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC says the last few months in the Parliament have been full of change and advancement for Trinidad and Tobago.

Delivering Christmas greetings to the Lower House on Tuesday, the Prime Minister noted that her government has been performing above and beyond their calling.

“This is the first session of the 13th Parliament that we have been engaged in, and since we got the overwhelming mandate in April 2025, we have worked very steadily to strengthen our economy, to restore fairness to governance, to support workers and families, to build a safer, more compassionate, and opportunity-rich nation, and we’ve only just begun.”

Earlier in the sitting, the Prime Minister and Attorney General celebrated a victory after the Speaker dismissed two privilege motions brought by the Opposition.

Members of the House also united to support new legislation regulating the use of fireworks.

Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar went on to highlight several major achievements of her government in recent months.

“We were able in this session, Mr. Speaker, Couva Children’s Hospital, as I mentioned, we were able to keep the promise that we made to the PSA to award them 10%. We kept our commitments to T&TEC workers, to NIB workers. There are so many more, which we will talk about on another occasion.”
