Princes Town Suspect Remanded In Home Invasion Case

A 23-year-old man of Princes Town has been formally charged and remanded into custody following his appearance before the court on Friday 5th June, 2026.

The accused, appeared before Master Sookraj Goswami at South Court A, where he was not called upon to plead. Bail was denied and a scheduling order was issued. The matter has been adjourned to 18th December, 2026 for a sufficiency hearing.

Investigations conducted by officers of the Princes Town Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Princes Town Police Station revealed that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday 30th May, 2026. At approximately 5:00 a.m., a 24-year-old male resident awoke in his bedroom to find a male intruder armed with a knife. A struggle ensued, during which the victim sustained minor injuries before the suspect fled the scene via a bushy area to the rear of the property.

Officers responded promptly, secured the scene, and conducted enquiries, including interviews with witnesses and persons in the area. The suspect was subsequently located a short distance away and arrested. He was positively identified by the victim.

Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene and recovered forensic evidence, including workable prints.

Following further enquiries and under the guidance of senior officers, the suspect was formally charged with the offence of Home Invasion.

The matter is being prosecuted under the supervision of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
