On Thursday October 15, 2026 at approximately 4:30 a.m. Prisons Officers attached to the Port of Spain Prison intercepted three packages thrown over the prison’s perimeter wall.
The packages contained the following prohibited articles:
- Seven hundred and sixty (760) cigarettes;
- Forty-nine (49) packs of RAW wrapping papers;
- Thirty-eight (38) grams of plant-like material;
- One (1) gram of a white powdery substance; and
- Thirteen (13) cigarette lighters.
The interception forms part of the Prison Service’s ongoing efforts to prevent the introduction of prohibited items into correctional facilities and to disrupt the channels through which contraband is supplied to inmates.
The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening prison security, disrupting contraband supply networks, and maintaining a safe and secure environment conducive to rehabilitative efforts across all correctional facilities.
Investigations are continuing, with the assistance of external law enforcement agencies, to identify and apprehend the persons responsible.
