Investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding a gruesome discovery in Tobago on Wednesday.
The bodies of 33 year old Sarah Smith and her two children, one year old Phoenix and three year old Genuine Smith, were found at Parlatuvier in a water tank owned by the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA).
According to police, around 7:15pm on September 10th, a woman called the Moriah Police Station and reported that her daughter, Sarah Smith, was not answering her phone after several attempts. She also stated that Ms. Smith and her two children were staying with someone in Parlatuvier.
Police officers made checks at the address where they learned that Ms. Smith was evicted from her home one week ago.
Sometime around 5pm on Wednesday, officers, continuing enquiries, detected a stench near the missing woman’s last address which led the officers to discover the three bodies at the bottom of a 40-foot empty tank.
WASA, Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), and the Fire Service were contacted to assist with accessing the bodies.
