Quick Police Response Leads To Robbery Suspect Detained on Ariapita Avenue

A swift police response led to the detention of a robbery suspect following a chain-snatching incident along Ariapita Avenue on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025.

Reports indicate that the victim, a woman from Carapichima, was standing outside a bar when two men approached her. One suspect, dressed in a black jersey and cap, allegedly snatched a gold chain valued at $2,500 from her neck before fleeing west with an accomplice, who was wearing a white hoodie.

The victim alerted her boyfriend, who pursued the suspects and contacted police. Sgt. Roberts and WPC George, who were on mobile patrol nearby, responded immediately. Acting on the information provided, officers detained a male suspect, who was positively identified by the victim at the Woodbrook Police Station.

Investigations are continuing, under the direction of PC Nichols of CID West.
