Government stepped in to bring relief to customers affected by prolonged delays in the release of cargo handled by Trinbago Express USA at the Port of Spain.
On Saturday, Minister of Works and Infrastructure Jearlean John, Chairman of the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago Dr. Rodney Ramroop, accompanied by senior officials, visited Shed 10 to oversee the ongoing release of cargo and engage directly with affected customers.
It is reported that for months, customers faced uncertainty as operational and administrative issues left cargo unreleased.
Speaking during the visit, Minister John said that the situation placed an unfair burden on customers and small operators who depend on timely access to their goods.
She said the Government’s intervention reflects its responsibility to act when systems break down and citizens are adversely affected.
The Port Authority advises that the distribution and release of goods will continue.
