Family members of Fire Officer Bruce Lezama will have to await the results of an autopsy on a body found off the Arima Old Road, Blanchisseuse, before he is positively identified.
Mr. Lezama, 47, was last seen on Christmas Day and failed to report for work on Saturday, December 27th, prompting concern.
On Tuesday, a badly decomposed body was discovered at the three-mile mark by fire officers who had organised a search party overnight.
Mr. Lezama, an ambulance driver, was based at the Northern Division headquarters on Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.
According to police, relatives went to his home at Andy Estate, off Bypass Road, Arima, on December 28th and found his front gate and door open with no sign of him inside. Calls to his mobile phone also went unanswered.
