Search Shifts To Recovery After Bermuda Medical Flight Crash

Search efforts have now shifted to recovery as all six people on board a medical transport flight in Bermuda are presumed dead.

The US Coast Guard has suspended its search after approximately 66 hours of operations.

The Latitude Air Ambulance aircraft was travelling from Bermuda to Boston early Saturday when contact was lost.

A debris field was later found in waters about 20 miles south of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

On board were four Canadians — two pilots and two medical crew — along with a Bermudian patient and a family escort.

Flight data shows the aircraft dropped rapidly from about 24,000 feet to 11,000 feet shortly before disappearing from radar.

Air traffic recordings indicate the crew experienced communication problems, with the pilot later declaring an emergency before all contact was lost.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
