Seven Suspects Held In Northern Division Operation ‘Summer Slam’

Seven suspects were arrested in connection with various offences including Shooting with Intent, during an intelligence-led State of Emergency operation conducted in the Northern Division yesterday.

Operation ‘Summer Slam’, conducted between 2:30pm and 7:30pm on Monday 18th August, 2025, was spearheaded by ACP Simon, W/Snr. Supt. Maynard-Wilson, Supt. Etienne, ASP Pitt and Insp. David and included officers of the Arima and Malabar Police Stations, the Northern Division Task Force and the Guard and Emergency Branch.

During the exercise, officers held five suspects, ages 21 to 47, relative to investigations into Shooting with Intent, Malicious Damage and Arson.

Two other suspects, ages 30 and 34, were arrested for Malicious Damage and Driving Under the Influence, respectively.

Investigations are ongoing into the above matters.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old Laventille man was detained at a facility in the Northern Division following the granting of a Prevention Detention Order, by the Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, on Monday 18th August, 2025.

Officers of the Port of Spain Gang and Intelligence Unit Team executed the arrest of the suspect and promptly conveyed him to the facility in compliance with the Detention Order.

The operation was supervised by Snr. Supt. Thom, Supt. Baird and ASP Mongroo.
