Six Arrested For Breaching Public Health Regulations At Sea Lots Boxing Match

Six persons were arrested for breaching the Public Health Regulations during an anti-crime exercise conducted by officers of the Port of Spain Division, in Sea Lots yesterday.

Officers conducted the exercise between 5pm and 10pm, on Sunday 26th September, 2021, during which they proceeded to Concession Drive, Sea Lots, where they observed a large crowd gathered to witness a boxing match. Officers informed members of the crowd, many of whom were not wearing face masks or practicing social distancing, that they were in breach of the Public Health Regulations.

When the officers attempted to arrest the members of the crowd, they ran off in different directions, but six persons, all of Sea Lots, were held.

During the exercise, several shots were also fired in the direction of the officers, who in keeping with the Use of Force Policy, returned fire. No injuries were reported.

The exercise was coordinated by ACP Gaffar, Snr. Supt. Terrance Nobbee, Supt. Kisoonlal, ASP Walker and ASP Sooker and supervised by Cpl Huggins and W/Cpl Fernando.
