The Ministry of Defence wishes to advise that the six-member crew of the fishing vessel ST VINCENT VII has been rescued with all souls alive and accounted for.
At around 9;00 PM on Tuesday 21st July instant, the Maritime Operations Command Center received a report from the crew of MV MARVEL KITE destined for the United States, who indicated that whilst proceeding westward at around 349 nautical miles east of Galeota, they observed the Fishing Vessel ST VINCENT VII, which appeared to be in distress.
Upon approaching the said vessel, the crew of the MV MARVEL KITE identified 6 people on board whose identities matched those previously reported missing. The rescued people were observed to be in reasonably good health with no remarkable injuries.
Instructions were subsequently given to Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard vessel CG42 captained by Lt Commander Straker to arrange a rendezvous with the crew of MV MARVEL KITE to receive the 6 distressed fishermen.
The distressed fishermen are expected to be brought to shore within the next 4 hours.
