South Triumph In Under-15 Group A Final

A man-of-the-match performance from Luke Ramlal that included 46 runs and four wickets saw South defeat East by three wickets in the Group A final of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board Under 15 developmental program.

Here are the highlights from an exciting day of cricket at the National Cricket Centre, in Balmain, Couva.

After weeks of intense competition, the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board and the Bess Motors Limited Under 15 developmental program have reached the business end. On Thursday East met South in the Group A final.

With East holding a score of 61 for 3, Samir Boodoo and Sanjiv Bachu looked to steady the innings as the pair formed a fair partnership.

Bachu would be dismissed for 16 when some sharp fielding from team South led to the batsman being run out. The score is at 107 for 4.

Five runs later another wicket fell. This time the Southern team got their man when Ayden Ramtahal had Samir Boodoo caught and bowled just seven runs shy of a half-century.

Coming into bat was Devenish Thomas, who announced himself with an early boundary.

Thomas was then let off the hook when his shot was dropped by the South Zone fielder.

The East Zone’s number 12 would leave his team at 146 for six when he paid the price for this attempted boundary, which was caught by Kayden Manohar. 45.1 overs gone.

The South Zone team would go on to dismiss Gabriel Singh, Chad Singh, Leandro Ramkellawan, and Abhishek Maharaj, ending their innings on 158 all out.

South wasted no time in their chase, with four well-struck by opener Rahul Soogrim.

Despite the positive start, his opening partner, Sanjeev Samaroo, was bowled by Josh Cumberbatch. The score is 6 for one. Soogrim soon joined him in the stands when his wicket met the fury of Devish Thomas. Bowled for eight.

At 17 for two South’s Luke Ramlal would steady the ship, scoring 46. That, along with Vashisht Jagdeo registering 30 runs, led the men in green and white to 159 for 7, winning the match by three wickets, to capture the Group A title.
