SouthEx’s Food, Agriculture and Beverage Expo Opens At Gulf City

SouthEx’s Food, Agriculture and Beverage Expo is having its yearly run at the Gulf City Shopping Complex in San Fernando.

TTT News visited the mall to witness the opening so we can share first-hand what to expect over the next few days.

Hosted by SouthEx, the event is free to the public and is sponsored in part by Eximbank.

Southex CEO George Singh told reporters: “So we have about 30 agro-processors here. This is the third or the fourth year, I think, that we’re doing this particular exhibition. It’s one that really deals with the small agro-processing industry. It’s really important. We have the farmers group is here with quite a number of farmers. We also have food consultants are here. Exim Bank is here. Agricultural Development Bank is here. So it’s a good place to come if you’re interested in getting involved in the food, beverage or agro-industry.”

Plant lovers can purchase their favourite shrubs and there’s even help for persons interested in starting their own kitchen gardens.

TTT News caught up with Member of Parliament-Elect for San Fernando West Dr. Michael Dowlath during his tour of the Expo.

He shared some of his plans for the constituency: “We are concerned about San Fernando moving away from, you know, it was poly-industrial capital, it was poly-educational capital, now to the innovation capital. So how do we use things like AI in making businesses work smarter and being able to connect with customers and things like that. So we want to look especially at what technology can be used in existing, in marketing businesses.”

The Food, Agriculture, and Beverage Expo runs from April 30th to May 4th at the Gulf City Auditorium.
