Students who have topped the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) examinations in April have officially been named.
This announcement was made by Minister of Education Dr. Michael Dowlath at a Post-Cabinet Media Briefing on Thursday.
“There was a three-way tie for the first position. Nicholas Dolly, Chaguanas Government, Sanya Maraj, Macaulay Government, and Xavier Telesford was a homeschooler. And in the fourth position, Kailash Deyalsingh from Exchange Presbyterian, and the fifth position, Ashlyn Ramkissoon from Jordan Hill Presbyterian.”
Minister Dowlath said the Ministry has undertaken an analysis to highlight both individual and institutional excellence. Thus, the top 200 students and top 25 performing schools will be recognised in a special ceremony.
“This initiative will highlight the achievements of schools and students, fostering a culture of excellence, and encourage improvement across the educational system. It will hopefully motivate them to improve in their performances.”
The Education Minister noted that there was a tie for the 200th place therefore 201 students will be recognised at the ceremony. Of the top 200 positions, 123 were females while 78 were males.
