Special Operations Act 2026 Officially Proclaimed

The Special Operations Act, 2026, has been officially proclaimed by President Christine Kangaloo.

The Bill was initially introduced in Parliament on September 16th, 2026, and seeks to establish policing districts within Trinidad and Tobago and provide for the conduct of special operations to combat criminality in those districts.

The Act also provides for special operations to be conducted by police officers, with or without military assistance from members of the Defence Force.

It also mandates the creation of joint protocols and separate standard operating procedures to guide collaboration between police officers and members of the Defence Force in the conduct of special operations and the provision of military assistance.
