Sport Minister Extends Condolences On The Passing Of Cyclist And Coach Rakesh ‘Ronnie’ Ragoonanan

The Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Phillip Watts, has extended condolences to the Central Spokes Cycle Club (CSCC) and the family of Rakesh ‘Ronnie’ Ragoonanan, following his tragic passing.

Minister Watts, in a conversation with Ms. Rovena Williams, President of the CSCC, expressed profound sympathy for the loss endured by both the cycling fraternity and Ragoonanan’s loved ones.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Central
Spokes Cycle Club and the family of Rakesh ‘Ronnie’ Ragoonanan on his tragic passing,” Minister
Watts stated.

Acknowledging Ragoonanan’s contribution to sport, Minister Watts continued, “Ronnie was not only a dedicated cyclist and coach within the club, but also a true mentor who inspired many within the cycling fraternity. His loss is deeply felt across the sporting community, and we stand with you in this moment of grief. May his legacy continue to motivate future generations of athletes.”

Rakesh ‘Ronnie’ Ragoonanan was widely recognised as a passionate and committed advocate for the development of cycling in Trinidad and Tobago. His influence extended beyond the track, where he played a leading role in nurturing talent and encouraging youth participation in the sport.

The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs said it stands in solidarity with the cycling community during this time of mourning, remembering Ragoonanan’s contributions and lasting passion for the development of sport in Trinidad and Tobago.
