President of the Secondary Schools Football League, Merere Gonzales, says he isn’t ruling out the possibility of expanding the Premiership division in the future but describes it as a delicate matter.
Gonzales, however, notes that whatever decision is made, will always be in the best interest of the student athlete.
“Now some persons may say, well why not let it lap over into the new year which is a possibility and that can be discussed and hopefully in the future it may go that way even if it is only for the premiership division it can be done. Now we also have to be mindful we are not an entity on our own we are working within our school system under the MOE of which the Minister of Education, Dr Michael Dowlat is our patron of the league. In that 12 months of the year, there are other sports disciplines. Even as we have the current SSFL season, volleyball takes place now, netball is going on, track and field also.”
