St Helena Man Killed In Boxing Day Crash On Churchill Roosevelt Highway

A 26-year-old St Helena man is dead and four others injured following a violent early-morning crash along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway near the piarco pedestrian walkover on Boxing Day.

Police say the incident occurred just before 4 a.m. as a silver Nissan Note was travelling west when the driver reportedly lost control after overtaking another vehicle.

The car veered off the roadway, struck metal guard rails, collided with a bus shed and plunged into a ravine, overturning during the impact.

The driver, Emmanuel Ottley, was ejected from the vehicle and later found about 30 feet away in the ravine. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other occupants who were trapped in the wreckage, were freed by fire officers and taken to the hospital for treatment.
