‘Stories From In De Old House’ Wows At San Fernando Fashion Week

Threading through this country’s olden days, San Fernando Fashion Week 2025 explored some forgotten local traditions through vivid and vibrant pieces.

The San Fernando Creative Arts Centre transformed into a bygone era of Trinidad and Tobago, depicting the theme ‘Stories From In De Old House’ as the country celebrated Republic Day.

According to Event Coordinator Deron Attzs, the pieces showcased months of dedication and hard work by the designers who curated a collection that was palatable, wearable, and very accessible for purchase.

He also explained some of the ways in which SFW is bridging the gaps to ensure inclusivity within the local fashion industry.

“Also during the production, I also had some internal reflections, because working with a lot of senior citizens, there’s a huge gap between this fast-speeding generation and also our past generation that still exists in the now, and we can’t seem to find a way to bridge what they need to pass on because we tend to always end up by a funeral or a memorial, and we hear stories of how things used to be a long time ago.”

Some of the designers featured were DADL Clothing Label, Johari Designs, Aaron Moneer Designs, Buffalo Soldier Designs, Josiah Fashion House, Bee’s Accessories Style Designs, and Lesa G Designs.

Fashion pioneer and Hummingbird Silver Medal recipient Jacqui Koon How was also present to witness the talent on display.
