Officers of the Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) Branch successfully apprehended a suspect following a road traffic accident (RTA) in Port of Spain on Saturday April 4th, 2026.
At approximately 1:40pm, PCs Lewis and Dillon, both attached to the Port of Spain/Western Division ERP, were on static duty at the corner of Gordon and Frederick Streets when they responded to a reported RTA at the corner of New and Henry Streets.
While approaching the scene, the officers observed two male individuals running from one of the vehicles involved in the accident. The officers pursued the suspects on foot, and with the assistance of officers from the Port of Spain Task Force, one individual was apprehended.
Investigations revealed that the vehicle, a white AD wagon, had been reported stolen on April 2nd, 2026.
The suspect, identified as a 21-year-old male of Laventille, was taken into custody and conveyed to the Central Police Station, where he remains pending further enquiries.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
