Suspects Apprehended After Christmas Day Break-in At ODPM Facility

Perpetrators who broke into an Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) storage facility were apprehended at 2:30AM on Christmas morning following a swift police operation.

The arrests came after multiple criminal break-ins during December targeting ODPM storage containers holding relief and emergency response supplies essential for disaster preparedness. The stolen items are intended to protect lives, communities, and critical infrastructure during national emergencies.

Minister of Homeland Security, the Honourable Roger Alexander, praised the police response and issued a stern warning about future crimes targeting national security assets. “This successful operation is a testament to the vigilance, professionalism, and commitment of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service,” Alexander stated. “Crime does not take a holiday, and neither do our security agencies.”

The minister emphasized that the government takes such crimes seriously and will act decisively to protect the people and institutions of Trinidad and Tobago. He added that those who threaten public safety and national resilience will be pursued and brought before the courts.
