Talk City 91.1FM has been revamped and now boasts a cast of experienced and veteran talk show hosts.
The station held a soft launch today, Friday.
One of the new presenters is Mr. X, Gerrard Small, who says he believes being a talk show host is helping to fulfil one of his life’s callings.
“I believe that I am the voice for the voiceless in some areas, and so I have my contribution to make. I remember my barber telling me a couple of years ago, ‘Focus on your purpose,’ you know, and it took me a while to understand what that meant, you know. Focus on your purpose, and you have to find what is your purpose in life, and one of my callings in life is politics, so every time I try to run from it, I end up back in it.”
His co-host on Off The Record, Stephan Reis, says while he has been on both radio and television, his preference is radio.
“I take particular pride in engaging with my audience, getting interactive. I like to hear the views of others. I don’t like people to agree with me. A lot of people agree with me, but I always tell my audience I like the people that don’t agree with me because maybe they’re looking at a situation or an issue from a different angle that I didn’t look at initially, so they bring a different perspective.”
Another member of the Talk City team is Lennox Smith from The Ground Report.
“It’s an amalgamation and a synergy, and you learn from it as well because you want to make certain that you are in the right place, you are doing the right things, and at the end of the day, the consumers of the information that we would have been providing on a daily basis are certainly better off for it and are therefore more informed about Trinidad and Tobago.”
Tune in to Talk City 91.1FM daily to meet the new hosts and the new programmes, which include The Ground Report, Off The Record, The Saturday Reset, and Women’s Perspective in Islam.
