After almost ten months of an unprecedented Tobago House of Assembly deadlock, Tobago will return to the polls in December. Chief Secretary Ancil Dennis made the announcement at Wednesday’s Post Executive Media Briefing.
Mr. Dennis said he is satisfied with the completion of the process by the Elections and Boundaries and Commission, adding that the People’s National Movement has always believed returning to the polls is the only solution to resolving the deadlock. He said it was not an easy task over the past months, but they made a commitment to lead with restraint.
Mr. Dennis added that the new 15-seat arrangement is also a suitable one to avoid another tie. He also informed TTT News that the date for Nomination Day will be announced by the President.
