The debate on The Law Reform (Zones of Special Operations) (Special Security and Community Development Measures) Bill, 2026 resumed in the Senate on Friday.
Minister in the Ministry of Housing Phillip Alexander reiterated that the implementation of Zones of Special Operations seeks to save lives and give citizens back their freedom.
“The purpose of this law is not to stigmatise or to target law-abiding, God-fearing people, taxpaying people. This is not for them. The purpose of this law is triage. This is intervention. This is the government of the day mounting a rescue. This is us coming to save you from a decade of failed policies.”
