Three Detained During Intelligence-Led SOE Operation In North Central Division

Officers of the St. Joseph Criminal Investigations Department (CID), supported by various specialised units, conducted an intelligence-led operation under the provisions of the Emergency Powers Regulations 2025.

The coordinated exercise was carried out between 11:30am and 2:30pm in areas west of the North Central Division, particularly targeting the Bangladesh area. The initiative was launched in response to a recent spike in reports of robberies, house break-ins, and larceny incidents.

During the course of the exercise searches were conducted at the homes of three suspects. Although no illegal items or materials directly related to the active investigations were discovered, electronic devices were seized for further examination. The suspects, ages 21 to 29, of the Farm Road, St Joseph area, were detained and were taken to the St. Joseph Police Station for continued enquiries.

The operation was spearheaded by ACP Simon, Senior Superintendent Gift, and Superintendent Mohammed. It was coordinated by ASP Bharath and directly supervised by Sgt Newton, Sgt Joseph-Perez, and Cpl Mahon. Supporting units included members of the North Central Division Task Force (East and West), Arouca CID, Tunapuna CID, Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB), and the TTPS K-9 Unit.

Investigations are ongoing.
