A police officer and a prison officer were among three suspects detained on Thursday, August 21st, 2025, as the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) continues efforts to dismantle criminal networks.
The suspects were held under Preventative Detention Orders issued in accordance with the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2025. The coordinated, intelligence-led operation was carried out across the Port of Spain, North Eastern, and Northern Divisions between 9:40am and 10:30pm.
Members of the Special Investigations Unit served and executed the three orders under the authority of the State of Emergency. All three individuals were processed and taken into custody for safekeeping.
Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro commended the operation, noting that it highlights the strength of the TTPS’s intelligence capabilities and its ability to act decisively.
He stated, “The TTPS will use every lawful measure available under the State of Emergency to disrupt and dismantle criminal syndicates. The TTPS is acting strategically and intentionally, which send a clear message that the Police Service will do what is necessary to ensure that rule of law will prevail.”
