Top US Military Official Meets With Prime Minister On Regional Security

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, met with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC, on Monday to discuss regional security challenges and reaffirm the strong partnership between the United States and Trinidad and Tobago.

General Caine, met with the Prime Minister and members of her Cabinet to exchange views on threats affecting the Caribbean region, according to a readout provided by Joint Staff Spokesperson Joseph Holstead.

Discussions focused on the destabilising effects of illicit narcotics, arms trafficking, human trafficking, and transnational criminal organisation activities in the region. General Caine emphasised that close cooperation between the two nations directly contributes to safeguarding regional security.

The General expressed appreciation for Trinidad and Tobago’s continued leadership and partnership in advancing mutual objectives. He reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to working closely with Trinidad and Tobago to address shared threats and deepen collaboration across the Caribbean.
