Eight Scrap Metal Inspectors have been designated by the Minister of Trade and Industry.
On Monday, the Ministry of Trade and Industry announced the proclamation of additional sections of the Scrap Metal Act, 2023 and the Scrap Metal Regulations 2023, which took effect from May 8th, 2023.
Critical to the operationalisation of the new regulatory framework, the Scrap Metal Inspectors will work alongside the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and other authorised officers from the Environmental Management Authority and the Public Health Inspector to ensure observance of the Act and Regulations.
The Scrap Metal Inspectors will be equipped and out on scrap metal sites from Monday May 15th, 2023 to perform their duties.
