It was another disappointing day out for the Trinidad and Tobago Senior Men’s Football Team, as they were beaten 4‑1 by Venezuela in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA Series — only the second outing in charge for interim head coach Derek King.
Trinidad and Tobago struck first in the contest but were eventually overwhelmed, with Venezuela’s substitutes turning the game around to secure the 4‑1 win over T&T.
Senior Men’s Football Team captain Levi Garcia made up for his first‑half penalty miss, finding the recalled Reon Moore, who opened the scoring in the 52nd minute. Moore, who scored his 11th goal for the national team, sent T&T 1‑0 up in their opening match of the FIFA Series match in Uzbekistan.
The lead didn’t last long, with Delvin Alfonzo equalising for the South Americans in the 60th minute.
In the 67th minute, poor defending by Justin Garcia led to a free kick, which allowed Alfonzo to be found free in the box to blast home Venezuela’s second.
In the 81st minute, Venezuela captain Salomón Rondón beat the offside trap to score his side’s third goal.
The prolific striker returned three minutes later to secure a 4‑1 victory for Venezuela over Trinidad and Tobago.
Up next for T&T is a meeting versus Gabon on Monday, March 30th .
