TT Business Owners On Safe Zones

The implementation of the TT Safe Zone was too long in coming, and some of the measures need a second look.

The statement from restaurateur, Peter George.

Mr. George made the statement following the launch of the Safe Zone on Monday.

Mr. George maintained there has not been any evidence linking in-house dining to any spread of the COVID-19 virus.

And the Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce believes the TT Safe Zone is a step in the right direction.

President of the Chamber, Richie Sookhai, told TTT News he hopes the initiative encourages more people to get vaccinated.

Mr. Sookhai said some businesses under the Safe Zone remained closed on Monday because many owners transitioned to online commerce. However, many are having problems with the online infrastructure.

He hopes the Government steps in soon to assist given their assurance in this year’s budget.

Mr. Sookhai also hopes small and medium-sized industries can soon access the loan facilities announced by Government since many bars, for example, are still closed.
