T&T’s Men’s Beach Handball Team are into tonight’s Semis at the NORCA Beach Handball Championship in Acapulco, Mexico.
Early on Tuesday, they clashed with the hosts in a cardiac arresting Game 3 of their campaign. T&T got off to a positive start led by their playmakers, winning the first set 23-8. However, the Mexicans hurled a curve ball to the red, white and black, taking the second set 22-16, which meant the game had to be decided by penalties.
T&T won the shoot-out 9 goals to 6. They meet Puerto Rico in the Semi-Finals to obtain a chance for automatic qualification to the 2022 Handball World Cup in Greece.
On Monday, Team TTO bagged two victories to start their tournament strong. The first came against Canada, T&T winning 17-11, 16-12. They then went on to dominate Caribbean neighbours St. Kitts and Nevis 10-2 in the first set, and 12-6 in the second.
