Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has announced that Trinidad and Tobago recorded a ten-day span without a single murder, describing it as a milestone reflecting steady progress in the Government’s ongoing efforts to curb crime.
“For the first time in a long while, Trinidad and Tobago had a ten-day span without a single recorded murder,” the Prime Minister said.
Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar acknowledged that the streak came to an end with an incident recorded today, but said the Government remains committed to its anti-crime objectives.
“Unfortunately, there was an incident recorded today, however, we keep working towards achieving our anti-crime objectives,” she said.
The Prime Minister said the achievement demonstrates that citizens have the will and ability to help curb crime when working together with the state.
“This shows that the citizens of our nation do possess the will and ability to curb crime when we all work together,” she said.
The Prime Minister concluded by extending her gratitude to law-abiding citizens.
“I want to thank the law-abiding citizens of Trinidad and Tobago who supported the efforts to achieve this small milestone,” she said. “We look forward to achieving greater progress in the coming months.”
