Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism Satyakama Maharaj has outlined plans to expand into new international markets, with Ghana identified as a key focal point.
The Minister noted that Republic Bank already has a major presence in Ghana and confirmed that an inaugural flight is planned for March to support business access.
He added that negotiations are underway for a duty-free agreement with Ghana and the wider West African region.
“Our plan is to get the economy truly diversified, and the benchmark we are aiming at is not 80-20 as before, 50-50, energy, non-energy.”
The Minister said these initiatives form part of a wider strategy built on trade, investment and tourism, aimed at boosting foreign exchange earnings, supporting local industries, and positioning Trinidad and Tobago for long-term growth.
