A man was arrested in Fyzabad after he was caught with a quantity of cocaine on Independence Day.
Around 11 a.m. on August 31st, 2026, a party of officers assigned to the South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF) and the Fyzabad/Oropouche CID was on anti-crime exercise duty in Fyzabad.
Whilst proceeding along Solomon Street, Khan Trace, Fyzabad, one of the officers observed a man walking along the road.
The man looked in the direction of the police vehicles before turning and walking along a nearby track.
The officers stopped the vehicle, approached the man and identified themselves as police officers.
They searched the man and found a transparent plastic packet containing a quantity of cocaine in his pants pocket.
The suspect was arrested and the drug seized. It was weighed and amounted to 13.7 grams. Investigations are continuing.
Meanwhile, earlier that day, police in Maracas, St Joseph, conducted twenty (20) street checks as part of Operation Resolute Shield.
Officers assigned to the Maracas, St. Joseph Police Station conducted a roving Road Traffic Exercise between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Particular attention was paid to Maracas Royal Road, Acono Road, Guaratta Trace and Lluengo Village.
During the exercise, several vehicles and persons were stopped and searched, but no illegal items were found.
However, a total of twenty-five (25) Fixed Penalty Notices were issued for various traffic offences.
